The smell isn’t unpleasant to me, just a musty plant-type odour. It certainly calms my cat – makes her go quite dopey and silly. She’s a nervous rescued cat. She was fine when she first came, then we started having toilet problems – she tipped over her litter tray and it frightened her so she refused to go in there again and wouldn’t go outdoors. Started peeing on the carpet by the front door even though she has unlimited access outdoors via cat flap in back door. Even though I got a shallower tray that she couldn’t tip over, she was still peeing on the carpet. I used the spray to encourage her to use the shallow litter tray. I removed the hall carpet – she’s stopped peeing on the floor. I’m now using the spray to encourage her to use the bigger litter tray again as well as the shallow one, and we’re getting there. Eventually I hope she will use just the big tray by the back door and phase out the shallow one. If she seems stressed about anything I put some spray on my hand and stroke it under her chin. She certainly likes it and it chills her out. I don’t need to use it often, and I envisage the spray will last some time as a little goes a long way.
